SUGGESTED STEPS & TEACHING POINTS

Step 1 – Toe/foot exercises

  • Sit with legs extended
  • Turn feet up and out (hook feet)
  • Repeat

Step 2 – Leg action sitting on edge

  • Sit close to edge – (thigh over water)
  • Lean back – hand back
  • Legs straight and together

Step 2.1 – Hook feet

  • Turn feet up and out

Step 2.2 – Drop feet

  • Bring heels back to wall without bending hips

Step 2.3 – Circle feet around

  • Kick around slowly
  • Feet outside knees
  • Bring legs together

Step 2.4 – Pause (glide)

  • Pause (glide)

Step 3 – Repeat

  • Hook feet (toes out)
  • Drop feet (heels back)
  • Circle feet (kick around slowly)
  • Stop

Step 4 – Single kick

  • Hold board on stomach
  • Push off and glide
  • Hook feet (toes out)
  • Drop feet (heels back)
  • Circle feet (kick around slowly)
  • Stop
  • Stand

Step 5 – Increase number of kicks – (with board)

  • Glide between kicks
  • Feet up and out before kick

MUST SEE:

  • Circular movement of feet
  • Flexed feet
