Confidence can be increased through swimming because:

  • You feel part of something as you become a member of a team
  • You are performing better as a result of practicing more
  • You think you look better as you may be losing weight (if previously overweight).

Watch out!

There can be negative effects on emotional health too. Fof example, training could lead to an injury and if a swimmer cannot swim this itself can lead to depression.
